Our Facilities & Environment

At Daisychain, we believe that the environment in which children spend their day matters.

We want our setting to feel warm, welcoming and familiar — a place where children can feel comfortable, confident and at home. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully organised to support children at different ages and stages, while giving them opportunities to make choices, explore and become increasingly independent.

Our Indoor Environment

Our rooms provide children with a variety of spaces and experiences throughout their day.

Children can move between areas for creative and imaginative play, construction, books and storytelling, sensory exploration, practical life, early language and mathematics, music and movement, as well as quieter spaces where they can relax or simply have a little time to themselves.

Resources are organised so that, wherever appropriate, children can see and access materials independently. We want children to be able to make choices, develop their own ideas and take an active role in their environment.

Our rooms are not designed to remain exactly the same throughout the year. They grow and change with the children, reflecting their interests, experiences, cultures, families and the things they are currently curious about.

A Place That Belongs to the Children

We believe children should be able to look around their environment and recognise themselves within it.

Family photographs, children's creations, their interests and experiences all become part of our rooms. Cosy areas, books, natural materials and familiar objects help create spaces that feel comfortable and personal rather than simply looking like classrooms.

Our environments are carefully considered, but they are also meant to be lived in, explored and enjoyed.

Rest & Quite Spaces

Busy little bodies also need opportunities to rest.

Our younger children are supported to follow their individual routines, including appropriate opportunities for sleep and rest throughout the day.

Across our rooms, children also have access to quieter and cosier areas where they can look at books, relax, spend time with an educator or simply take a break from a busy environment when they need it.

Outdoor Environment

We see our outdoor spaces as an extension of our indoor environment — another place for children to learn, investigate and play.

Children have opportunities for active physical play as well as construction, sand and water experiences, imaginative play, creativity and exploration of the natural world.

Being outdoors gives children different possibilities. There is room to move, make noise, experiment, take appropriate risks, work together and experience changes in weather, nature and the seasons.

An Inclusive Environment

Inclusion has been an important part of Daisychain since we first opened our doors.

We recognise that every child is different. Children may have different abilities, communication styles, sensory preferences, interests or support needs, and we aim to adapt our environment and experiences wherever possible so that every child has meaningful opportunities to participate in everyday life at Daisychain.

For us, inclusion is not about every child doing exactly the same thing. It is about creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to belong, participate and be themselves.

An Environment That Continues to Grow

Our environment is never completely finished.

As children grow, their interests change and new children join us, our rooms continue to evolve too. Our educators observe how children use the spaces and materials around them and make changes to create new opportunities for exploration and discovery.

Because ultimately, Daisychain belongs to the children who spend their days here.
