Our Story

Daisychain Montessori & Crèche was opened by Ursula Regan in 2006, with a simple aim — to create a warm and welcoming place where all children, regardless of their abilities or individual needs, would feel happy, safe and genuinely cared for.

Since then, Daisychain has grown and changed in many ways, but the heart of what we do has remained the same.

Over the past 20 years, we have worked hard to build a service that families can trust. We have welcomed hundreds of children through our doors, watched babies grow into toddlers, toddlers become preschoolers, and many of our preschool children return to us again as part of our Afterschool group.

One of the loveliest parts of being established in Drogheda for so many years is getting to know whole families. We have cared for brothers and sisters, welcomed younger siblings years later, and built relationships with families that have continued long after their children have left Daisychain.

Growing and Changing With Our Children

Early childhood education has changed enormously since Daisychain first opened in 2006 — and so have we.

Over the years, we have continued to develop our environments, our knowledge and the way we work with children. We believe that a good early years service should never stand still. We continue to learn, reflect and adapt our practice to meet the needs of the children in front of us.

No two years at Daisychain are exactly the same because no two groups of children are exactly the same. Their personalities, friendships, ideas, cultures, abilities and interests all help to shape life and learning within our setting.

What Matters to Us

At Daisychain, it is important to us that children are not only happy, safe and nurtured, but that they begin to discover themselves as learners.

We want every child to recognise that their ideas matter and that they are capable, curious and creative. We believe there is no single way to learn, explore, solve a problem or express an idea, and we want children to have the confidence to discover their own ways of doing things.

We want to nurture their imagination and creativity, encourage their natural curiosity and give them the confidence to ask questions, try new things and follow their own interests.

We believe childhood should be filled with opportunities to wonder, investigate, create, experiment, make choices and sometimes make mistakes. Through these experiences, children begin to discover what interests them, what they enjoy and what they are capable of achieving.

As educators, we believe our role is not simply to tell children what to learn. Our role is to create an environment where they feel secure enough to explore, to recognise what interests and excites them, and then to provide the opportunities, encouragement and support that can take their learning further.

We know that choosing someone to care for your child is about much more than simply finding a childcare place.

For many children, Daisychain becomes a big part of their childhood. It is where they make some of their first friendships, learn to do things independently, discover new interests, make mistakes, laugh, explore and grow.

That is why we have always wanted Daisychain to feel personal.

We want to know our children and their families. We want parents to feel comfortable coming to us with a question, a worry, an idea or simply a story about something their child has done at home.

We want every child to be recognised as an individual, with their own personality, strengths, needs and way of experiencing the world.

Most importantly, we want children to walk through our doors knowing that they belong here.

Daisychain Today

Twenty years after opening our doors, Daisychain continues to be a place filled with busy little hands, conversations, friendships, creativity, curiosity and plenty of laughter.

A lot has changed since 2006, and we are proud of how Daisychain has grown. But our purpose remains very much the same.

We want children to leave Daisychain with more than knowledge and preparation for school. We hope they leave us with confidence in themselves, curiosity about the world, independence, creativity and a genuine enjoyment of learning.

Above all, we hope their years at Daisychain become a happy part of their childhood — a time when they felt known, valued, included, nurtured and free to be themselves.
